SHANGHAI — At its September 3, 2026 product launch, YuanKong introduced Boxer, its on-device AI model, alongside YuanKong AI Work and YuanKong AI for Science. The company also announced a collaboration with HP to bring its model and office agents to selected HP Z-series devices.
The launch focused on a practical question: how can AI move beyond answering prompts to completing work within the environments organizations already use? YuanKong demonstrated how locally deployed models and agents can organize files, analyze data, and support research workflows, including when an internet connection is unavailable.
Office workflows, demonstrated offline
During the event, YuanKong co-founder Dr. Ning Kunpeng demonstrated AI Work on an HP computer with the network disconnected. Using a local model, the system categorized and archived invoices and identified anomalies in financial transaction data.
The demonstration reflected the direction of AI Work: connecting the steps of a task, from reading and organizing files to analyzing information and preparing usable outputs. For teams handling sensitive documents or working in restricted networks, local execution offers a way to use AI within their own computing environment.
A model and agents built for practical tasks
Boxer is YuanKong’s 35-billion-parameter on-device model, developed with office productivity in mind. It was post-trained using task trajectories generated through the company’s agent infrastructure, with a focus on balancing task capability against the computing and memory available on local devices.
Introduced alongside AI Work, YuanKong AI for Science is designed to support research workflows spanning literature, data analysis, experiment-related tasks, charts, and research documents. The aim is to connect these stages in a process that researchers can review and trace.
Bringing software and hardware together with HP
The collaboration combines YuanKong’s models and agent software with HP’s computing hardware and delivery capabilities. It is intended to bring YuanKong AI Work and its on-device model to selected HP Z-series devices, supporting workflows in manufacturing, finance, healthcare, and scientific research.
Practical deployment requires more than running a model on a device. Software must fit the hardware, work within the customer’s environment, and support tasks that people need to repeat. YuanKong and HP are working to bring those elements together, with customers’ data requirements and workflows shaping each deployment.
Local deployment, with choices for each organization
Fully local deployments are designed to keep model inference and data processing on the device. YuanKong also supports local-and-cloud approaches where additional computing resources are needed. The appropriate setup depends on the organization’s data requirements, hardware, workloads, and deployment needs.
From its beginnings with ChatExcel to its work on data agents and on-device AI, YuanKong has focused on helping people turn information into completed work. The launch and HP collaboration mark the next step in bringing that capability into office and research environments.
